Christmas Concert - December 11

The Pass Chorale Christmas Concert is scheduled for Sunday, December 11, 2011, 2:30 pm at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1320 W. Williams St. in Banning. The featured work is Franz Schubert's Mass in G. It is a beautiful concert mass with soloists, chorus and orchestra. It is the first time the Chorale has performed a Schubert mass. Singers are really enjoying rehearsing this work.

In addition, we'll perform several Christmas anthems. I remember "The Snow Lay on the Ground" by Leo Sowerby from an album by the Robert Shaw Chorale, and have always wanted to sing it. We borrowed the music from Our Savior's library. "Shepherd's Joy" by Mark Hayes is a Celtic carol with recorder, violin, piano, and percussion accompaniment.

The concert always ends with a Carol Sing-Along, with the orchestra! It's not every day that we get to sing with an orchestra, and the audience always loves this. The orchestra members enjoy it too, because Director Ernest makes up arrangements for them on the spot!

A beautiful reception follows the concert.

Tickets and further info are available from Chorale members or by phone 951-849-4676 or email, siva@dishmail.net. Cost is $15 for Adults, $10 for Seniors and Students.

We hope many can join us for our 2011 Celebration of Christmas!

Great Singing Space

The Pass Chorale has settled in to singing in the Gathering Hall at Dorothy Ramon Learning Center. The space has great acoustics and it seems easier to sing there. The Millie Plueger piano has now been tuned twice. It is up to concert pitch, but will be tuned again in November, just to be sure it holds. Tuner Greg Schultz gave a nice concert after he tuned the piano yesterday.

Tonight the Pass Chorale meets in the Hall again and will try out the newly tuned piano. There is still time for singers to join in time for the Christmas concert!
